Campaign Announces Major Partnership with NAHRO

The Campaign is thrilled to announce today that the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) will come on board as a formal partner. NAHRO's support is a huge development. The organization brings with it more than 20,000 members, including non-profits, redevelopment corporations and public housing authorities (PHAs) across the country.
"NAHRO is excited to be a partner in the 100,000 Homes Campaign" said John Bohm, Senior Director of Congressional Relations, Public Affairs and Field Operations for NAHRO. "Working cooperatively with housing authorities and others to date, the Campaign has brought new energy, passion and vigor to the fight for decent safe and affordable housing and accomplished much in a very short time."
In partnering with the Campaign, NAHRO hopes to offer concrete assistance in several areas. Their in-house publications reach thousands of PHA officials, and the Campaign is excited to leverage this exposure to get the word out. NAHRO also enjoys high esteem in many unenrolled communities, and we are hopeful that with their help, we can continue to reach out to new communities to join the Campaign. We're also eager to work with NAHRO to develop joint white papers on specific housing policy ideas we've developed in the course of our work.
Perhaps the most exciting part of our work with NAHRO involves attracting PHAs to the table in Campaign communities. The United States Interagency Council on Homelessness has urged PHAs to take an active role in their local efforts to end homelessness, but while teams like Phoenix and Santa Barbara have had success working with and engaging their local PHAs, many communities have not known where to start. We've noticed a significant difference in community performance when local PHAs are part of the Campaign effort, and we think their participation is critical to our ultimate success. With NAHRO's help, we hope to better connect with PHA officials around the country to find new avenues for partnership and collaboration.
