When a Florida Community Springs into Action, an Ailing Man Finds a Home

José spent 30 years homeless in Florida's Treasure Coast region with a large mass growing out of his neck. By the time Angela, a local mental health professional, discovered him on the side of the highway last month, he was without food and had become too weak to stand up. With few resources available, Angela called the Mayor of Sebastian, Bob McPartlan, who came out to check on José himself.

After 12 Years, a Veteran Moves Home for the Holidays

Donald, a former Army reservist, spent 12 years homeless on the streets of Philadelphia. After repeated failed attempts to find housing, he expected to remain homeless forever. Then, last month, with the help of Pathways to Housing PA, a local organization participating in the 100,000 Homes Campaign, Donald moved into his own apartment. His new home is not a shelter bed or a transitional unit; it is a permanent place of his own.

20,000 Vulnerable and Chronically Homeless Veterans Housed

Since launching in July of 2010, the 100,000 Homes Campaign and its partners have helped communities and local V.A. sites house more than 20,000 homeless veterans, the Campaign announced today. The milestone represents the fulfillment of the Campaign's Clinton Global Initiative commitment through Got Your 6, a national partner effort to support veterans as leaders civic assets.

Campaign Wins Prestigious World Habitat Award

Medellín, COLOMBIA— The 100,000 Homes Campaign, coordinated by NYC-based non-profit Community Solutions, was announced today as one of two international winners of the World Habitat Award, a prestigious honor awarded annually by the Building and Social Housing Foundation in conjunction with the United Nations.
