Major Grant from Bank of America a Game-Changer

Amazing news in San Diego, today…
Bank of America Charitable Foundation just announced a $200,000 grant to the 100K Homes Campaign to help us reach our goal of housing 100,000 vulnerable people by July of 2013!
This is one of the largest grants our campaign has received so far, and it speaks to the extraordinary work that our partners, volunteers and supporters are doing from Seattle to the Virgin Islands. It also highlights Bank of America’s serious commitment to ending homelessness.
But that’s not all…
At this morning’s community briefing, Bank of America's local San Diego branch presented the Downtown San Diego Partnership with a $5,000 matching grant to help fund the first round of “move-in kits” for San Diego’s most vulnerable homeless individuals. At that point, a representative from the local Wells Fargo Branch stood up and announced a separate gift of $27,000! It took just 17 minutes for the assembled crowd to pledge another $26,000 toward bringing their homeless neighbors inside for good!
Apart from money, Bank of America also committed its national network of associates to volunteer for future Registry Week events across the country, which helps ensure that the amazing momentum we’ve been building together will carry over to more Campaign communities nationwide.
The announcement capped off an overwhelmingly successful Registry Week in San Diego, where almost 250 local volunteers showed up at 4am for three days in a row to survey people living on the streets, identify the most vulnerable, and get them into housing.
Huge thanks to Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and the people of San Diego for their generosity, and congratulations to the Downtown San Diego Partnership, Centre City Development Corporation, United Way of San Diego, the County of San Diego, the Veterans Administration, and the San Diego Housing Commission for proving that ending homelessness is worth the investment!
