How Our Results Are Calculated
Since 2008, the Community Solutions team has convened leaders across the nation to learn best-practice models for identifying, housing, and maintaining housing for the most vulnerable, chronically homeless individuals. As part of our learning from these vanguard communities, each partner provided a number of vulnerable individuals they were able to house using the innovative method they shared as a best-practice model. Collectively, through these innovations, 5,104 individuals were housed prior to the official launch of the 100,000 Homes Campaign. As new communities enroll and join the effort to house 100,000 vulnerable individuals by 2013, the 100,000 Homes team will continue to learn and share best-practice models.
How are these numbers calculated?
Campaign Goal to House: The 100,000 Homes Campaign has a goal to house 100,000 vulnerable homeless individuals and families by 2013.
Community housing goal: Set by each community, the combined number of individuals and families the community will house during the course of the campaign. These numbers are also inclusive of placement goals reached prior to the launch by vanguard communities. As goals are met communities will be encouraged to set a new one.
People Housed: As reported by each community, the number of homeless individuals and families identified as being chronic and vulnerable housed since:
1). The community’s Registry
2). Vanguard communities joined the effort to share best-practice models
For those participating in Hospital to Home, this includes homeless individuals who are frequent users of hospitals.
Dollars Raised For Move-In Kits: Around the country, volunteers have been moved by their experience surveying vulnerable homeless individuals during Registry weeks. Many have raised money through their personal networks, or have donated themselves, to provide basic move-in materials for vulnerable homeless individuals in their communities. This number represents the amount collected nationally for this purpose.
